Stumm PG-23P 1.2
Roland JX-3P emulation, from the view of the PG-200 programmer.
Through the use of my JX-3P and available documentation I've tried to
match all routing, depth, tuning, and value ranges as closely as possible.
With one exception: the chorus could be much better. I don't care much
about chorus
effects so decided not to spend much time on it. There is a killer
Juno/JX chorus emulator available for free by Togu Audio Line (aka TAL). It is superb. Check out
his free 106 emulator while you are there.
Version 1.2 Notes: CPU Usage has been drastically improved. Backwards compatible with 1.0, however on 1.0 patches you may recieve some 'Parameter not found' type errors that you can ignore. Occasionally there may be some slight differences in the LFO amounts. All patches have been updated to correct this. This will most likely be the final update of PG-23P, but if there are any updates there will be no compatibility problems - so it's 100% ready for use.
I personally recommned designing most patches and use Fitchback2 most often with a single trigger for every 32 steps (or ticks if you're a tracker user). This allows more room for mixing and design in your patches. However, the quick release settings are also killer for 8th and 16th notes,
with them and automation on the pitchshifter you can do several 'stepped' shifting tricks .. many of these will sound like a gapper with a pitchshifter attached. Don't limit yourself to these ideas though, they are just some simple examples.
*WARNING* This machine can get real loud real quick! It's ideal not to use Note retriggers very often, unless the Release values are low or set to 0. When you set them to 0, you can use 16th or 8th notes to do cut up style pitchshifting (see the slices patches). Be careful when working with 16th notes not to change to a preset that was designed for slow/regular triggering! You've been warned.
